Freedivers from across Canada met for the AIDA Canada AGM on February 19, 2017

Freedivers from across Canada met for the AIDA Canada AGM on February 19, 2017. Members celebrated 2016′s achievements and progress and joined in to discuss the future of freediving in Canada. Elections were held and the new board includes the following:

Roberta Cenedese (BC), President Francois Leduc (QC), Vice-President Yaroslava Timoshenko (Ont), Treasurer Jillian Rutledge (BC), Secretary

Re-elected board members Roberta and Francois will continue for an additional term. They are very pleased to welcome back Yaroslava Timoshenko, who has previously served, and Jillian Rutledge, who will serve for the first time. Together, the Board will develop the initiatives of the previous term and move forward with AIDA Canada’s plans for 2017. Several committees have already been formed and work has begun on vital areas of growth:

Thank you AIDA Canada members Nikkey Ward, Jaime Kirstein, Joannie Huberdeau and Jean-Christophe Pelletier for volunteering. For more information on any of the above committees, please contact the board (board@aidacanada.org). Volunteers are always welcome.

An integral part of our growth is the new Provincial Representative Committee. So far we have representatives in BC (Luca Malaguti), Quebec (Joannie Huberdeau), Ontario, and Nova Scotia (Jared Cloutier). To contact your provincial representative or to apply for the position in your province, please e-mail the board (board@aidacanada.org). We want every province and territory in Canada to be represented and encourage freedivers to spread the news.

Our goal as we move forward is to continue to represent Canada to the international freediving community and to support our members, clubs, and athletes across Canada. Canadians are some of the toughest and most resilient divers on the planet. We want to celebrate this and encourage further growth of this great sport here at home.
